The Beauty reaches out like the famed Adam of the Sistine Chapel. But the beauty lies on a bed of salt and commands sinister looking swirls of inky substance.

Italy series "Been, Going, Coming"

Italy series "Been, Going, Coming"

Here is my Italy series displayed as one large piece. All the individual pieces interconnect and flow one into the other. The work shows the cycle of life, decay, death, and rebirth both in the individual pieces and in the larger work. When placed on the wall the pieces form the curve of the infinity symbol. I no longer have the last piece on the right side. It was sold. The price listed would be for the complete series not including the last piece which was previously sold. I would be willing to recreate the last canvas for an additional $500.

ABCD

ABCD

Acrylic on canvas. This may appear to be a simple still life of food. But there is also a subtle anthropological commentary on what we eat today and nutrition. Each food is labeled as if on display or to be studied: A, B, C, and D (common letters for vitamins). But for the most part these food items don't have much nutritional about them. The foods are all white (some link food color with nutrition level). There is no conclusion, only an exploritory study.

Princess

This painting is meant to be a portrait of the architypal princess with the long flowing hair. Often princesses have a certain amont of power that is associated with their hair. The Dance

The Dance

This pastel drawing was inspired by a work by Matisse in which there is a circle of dancers. I have always found Matisse's compositions to be interesting, while the actual work feels painful to my eye, confusing to my mind, and unsettling to my spirit. His intentions were to create raw joy in his works and at least in my case was never successful. In this piece I have imitated the basics of his composition, while rectifying the things I found to be preventing my own sense of joy. The work made one element at a time on different colors of pastel paper and then finally constructed in to one piece. The final piece appears to be a scroll when on the wall.

Resting at Sunset

In the calm after the storm there is a beautiful peace. After a hard day, a hard week, a hard project, or a hard life there is a time for peace and rest. This drawing is sometimes interpreted as a story of death and passing. The restfulness has a surreal feeling which is sometimes seen as a journey to heaven (or even hell). currently matted but unframed.
